Committees > PAC Liaison

The primary responsibility of this individual is to stay apprised of and communicate political matters impacting the travel industry and the companies with whom TBTA members work. In addition, the PAC Liaison will:
 
  • Be a member of the National Business Travel Association.
  • Committed to consistently attending monthly TBTA meetings.
  • Coordinate NBTAPAC fundraising campaigns with NBTA’s headquarters abiding by strict guidelines for soliciting contributions.
  • Become familiar with key issues facing NBTA (found on NBTA website). 
    Attend annual PAC Meeting in Washington and report back to membership.
  • Educate membership regarding the purpose NBTA Political Action Committee and rules around contributions.
  • Distribute quarterly updates regarding hot political issues of interest to NBTA and local chapters.
  • Solicit PAC contributions from membership using appropriate procedures as indicated by the NBTA.
  • Maintain web content as it relates to areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Solicitation Requirements: The Federal Election Commission (FEC) requires that NBTA only solicit members of NBTA and its Chapters, corporate employees of NBTA member companies and the families of NBTA members. All contributions must come from personal contributions, meaning they cannot come from a Chapter, association, corporation or group. All NBTA PAC correspondence must contain the following text:

    • “NBTAPAC is a separate, segregated fund established by NBTA. Contributions or gifts to NBTAPAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. All contributions are voluntary. NBTA will not favor or disadvantage anyone based upon the amounts or failure to make NBTAPAC contributions. Contributions are subject to the limitations of the Federal Election Commission regulations. Contributions are not limited to the amounts suggested. Contributions from corporations and associations cannot be accepted.
