Community Outreach

TBTA members nominated 501©(3) charities for TBTA’s 2019-2020 Community Outreach Program.   TBTA’s primary focus is to support organizations where contributions of financial support and hands on involvement will significantly impact the local organization.    The membership answered the call and I am pleased to announce the following charities have been accepted as nominees for the TBTA 2019-2020 Community Outreach Program:

Representatives from these organizations will be at the November TBTA meeting to present their mission, goals and request for our support.

They have also been invited to attend our Networking session beginning at 10:30 am to meet you and answer questions about their organizations.   I am confident that our TBTA members will show their usual enthusiasm in welcoming new faces!

Voting for the 2019-2020 Charity supported by TBTA will open on Friday, November 16 and remain open until Thursday November 29.   Results will be announced in early December.

I encourage all members to go to each of the nominees’ website prior to voting to see the phenomenal work each of these great organizations are doing in our community.

Government Relations

CLICK HERE TO DONATE TO PAC AND THE CHAPTER CHALLENGE
AND TO QUALIFY FOR THE GREAT PRIZES!

You must have a PayPal account to donate.  Also, be sure to type “Houston” or “Texas” in the chapter affiliation box.

One of the primary benefits of TBTA membership is support from an effective Government Relations program. Part of the industry’s collective voice is at the state and local level where TBTA's Government Relations program and its members get involved.

What We Do:

Government Relations advocates policies that benefit the business travel industry. Along with GBTA & Chapter members across the country, we educate members of Congress, their staff, and agency officials about:

  •          How business travel stimulates economic and jobs growth
  •          Government policies that facilitate business travel
  •          Government policies and taxes that discourage or impede business travel
  •          Benefits of efficient travel buying and selling

How You Can Make a Difference:
Get involved! Government representatives need to hear from you - their constituents - about policies that facilitate rather than impede business travel. Unwise policies cost the business travel community time, money, and business opportunities. From increasing risk-based passenger screening to modernizing the air transportation system to expanding access to the U.S. through the Visa Waiver Program, your representatives need to know that their actions/voting decisions matter to you.

The 12th Annual Chapter Challenge is ON!

GBTA is challenging its chapters to engage their elected officials. The Chapter Challenge runs through July 28, 2018. Chapters meeting these 4 tasks will be recognized as Chapter Challenge Partners, and TBTA needs your help in order to win for the 7th year in a row!

  • Appoint a member of your Chapter/Affiliate to be the Advocacy Liaison
  • Invite an elected official to speak at a Chapter/Affiliate meeting or host a GBTA Advocacy Related meeting
  • Send a letter on behalf of the Chapter/Affiliate to its Senator or Representative endorsing a GBTA endorsed bill or vote
  • PAC Fund Goal – Raise a minimum of $1,500 (30% of membership must contribute)

Business Travel PAC is the bipartisan GBTA USA political action committee or PAC. As the only federally recognized PAC representing the business travel industry, it gives the industry another voice in the political process. Through Business Travel PAC, GBTA members educate and financially support members of Congress who understand the value of business travel and support pro business travel interests. When government policies can make such a big difference in your lives – and the success of your employer and the business travel industry – participation in the political process is essential.
